University of the Arts London recently announced the winners of this year’s Mead Fellowships and Final Project Awards:

Project: Visualising Viability
‘Visualising Viability’ consists of a publication, an educational game and series of workshops. The materials will enable a community housing group to explore their project’s feasibility, assess what income is required, determine the various costs, and ultimately decide how ‘affordable’ their homes will be.

Project: A Line in the Water
‘A Line in the Water’ is a body of research presented in a website, telling the complex stories of nationality and national identity, arising from historical changes in the course of the Rio Grande river, which is used to delineate the USA/Mexican border.
Nicolas Canal Tinius
BA Fine Art (4D), Central Saint Martins graduate, 2018
Project: Prosthetic Memory: The Starlight Archives
Nicolas’ grandfather was a NASA executive for decades, contributing to the Apollo and Space Shuttle Missions, who is now losing his memory through dementia. This project will use Nicolas’ grandmother’s archive of documents and Memory Books, including letters, objects, photographs, audio recordings and films, and will result in a documentary film.
James Haymer
BA Acting, Drama Centre London graduate, 2018
Project: Think.Positive
‘Think.Positive’ is a 45-60 minute theatrical solo show, devised from first-hand experiences, presented through the mediums of physical theatre, multimedia, verse/blank verse, spoken word and an original score, inspired by Philoctetes by Sophocles.

Amelia’s work ‘Performance Fetish’ is a photojournalistic piece about the performance aspect of Fetish culture, capturing the ‘behind closed doors’ scene in Central London.
Francesca Harling
BA Fashion Communication: Journalism, CSM
Francesca’s TRASHMag is a biannual print anti-fast fashion magazine, with digital platform and Instagram handle.
Natalie Zipfl
BA Fashion Design: Womenswear, CSM
Natalie will create a sustainable fashion collection, with experimental materials made out of pig’s blood and corn-starch based plastics.
Ghafar Tajmohammad
BA Painting, Camberwell College of Arts
Gafar will use painting practice to generate designs for a series of wallpapers to be displayed in a room with the original painting to create an immersive installation.
Martina Dolcimascolo
BA Costume for Performance, LCF
Martina is making a short film about the folklore and poeticism of true Sicilian culture.
Madison Ford
BA Fashion Contour, LCF
Madison will be creating a body wear brand which will fuse e-textiles and wearable technology into street wear.
Jonathan Asiimwe Rugunda Quaade
BA Graphic Communication Design, CSM
Jonathan’s project is a physically interactive installation. It features two computers fighting over access and collection of data from inputting humans.

Kiki’s project is a short film about Black Girls. This film will explore the advice “just be yourself’ and whether, as black women and girls, they feel truly able to ‘be’ themselves.
