Photography Exhibition, Hamiltons Gallery

In January 2018 Scott Mead exhibited his most recent series of photographs Above the Clouds at Hamiltons Gallery in London; a body of work that captures the physical, emotional and philosophical wonder of air travel of the world above the clouds.

All proceeds from Scott’s photography practice, including sales from the Above the Clouds exhibition and accompanying book, are donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, where one of his children was cured of a life-threatening illness many years ago. The exhibition was exceedingly successful and hailed great press coverage, wonderfully benefiting the charity.

Above the Clouds is a portfolio of images taken from Scott’s extensive air travel on regularly scheduled flights over the last several years. During these journeys he has been extremely inspired whilst gazing out of plane windows at the endless horizon, finding that the journey itself can be more meaningful than just a means to a destination.

This was the second occasion Scott has presented a solo exhibition at Hamiltons Gallery. In September 2010 he exhibited Looking Back, a narrative series looking back, reflecting on life’s experiences whilst contemplating the future. All proceeds raised from the exhibition were donated to help create a new Gene and Cell Therapy Laboratory, providing a vital diagnostic and treatment service for children requiring a life-saving Bone Marrow Transplant at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
